Now the fate of the Indian team is in the hands of the cricketers themselves. The equation to make it to the semi-finals just got a lot easier.

First of all, South Africa has almost confirmed their place in the semi-finals by defeating West Indies by 9 wickets in the match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Aiden Markram-led side are unbeaten in the tournament so far.

The Proteas first beat India in the Super-8 phase and now beat the West Indies by 9 wickets to all but seal their semi-final berth. West Indies beat Zimbabwe by a big margin in the first match of the Super-8, but they bowed out against South Africa. After this loss by 9 wickets, their net run rate dropped to +1.791. West Indies batted first and scored 176 runs in the match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In reply, the pair of Quinton de Kock and captain Aiden Markram gave the team a great start. They added 95 runs for the first wicket. De Kock was dismissed for 47 runs but the captain remained unbeaten in the end. Markram scored 82 runs off 46 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes. He was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding performance.
