Chennai: Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh performed brilliantly in the crucial match against Zimbabwe in the Super Eight phase of T20 World Cup 2026. The match was do or die for India. And under that pressure, Arshdeep took three wickets with only 24 runs in four overs. His controlled bowling saw Zimbabwe restricted to 184/6 in 20 overs and India cruised to a big 72-run win.

Arshdeep Singh also made a big record in this match. He became India’s highest wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history. This record was previously held by Jasprit Bumrah. He had 33 wickets in his possession. Arshdeep is now on top with 35 wickets in 19 innings. His bowling average of 14.25 and economy of 7.33 is proof of his consistent success. Bumrah topped Ravichandran Ashwin in this World Cup. That record did not last even two days.

He is in great form in the current T20 World Cup. He is India’s second highest wicket taker with eight wickets in five innings. Starting the match with the new ball, he gave only four runs in the first over. He later conceded some runs in the second over but came back towards the end to pick up crucial wickets and turn the match around. He first dismissed Sikandar Raja, who scored 31 off 21 balls. Ryan then took Barle lbw for a wicket. He completed the three wickets by bowling Tony Munyonga in the last over.
