Washington. Former US President Bill Clinton testified before lawmakers investigating sexual assault convict Jeffrey Epstein on Friday that he ‘did nothing wrong’ and saw ‘no indication of being harassed by Epstein’. This was the first time that a former President was forced to testify before Parliament, behind closed doors in Chappaqua, New York. This development took place a day after Clinton’s wife and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified before lawmakers.
Bill Clinton has also not been accused of any wrongdoing. Yet lawmakers are grappling with how accountability should be held in the US at a time when scores of men have been removed from high positions around the world over their ties to Epstein. Hillary Clinton told lawmakers that she had no knowledge of how Epstein sexually abused underage girls and had no recollection of meeting Epstein.
Jeffrey Epstein was a high-profile financier who had access to big names in the world of politics and business. The legal charges against him began in 2008, when he was convicted of sex crimes involving minors. “Later in 2019, he was charged with federal human trafficking (sex trafficking), but he died in a New York jail before the case could proceed to trial.”
