Both Ayurveda and science believe that excessive tea can disturb the balance of the body. So let us know here what happens if drinking too much tea and how much tea should a person drink in a day.

How many cups of tea should one drink in a day?
-According to science, two to three cups of tea a day is considered sufficient for a healthy person. One cup of tea contains on average around thirty milligrams of caffeine. If you drink too much tea throughout the day, the amount of caffeine in the body increases. When caffeine reaches the body in excess, it has a direct impact on the brain and sleep. The person starts having problems like restlessness, nervousness and sleeplessness at night. Sometimes a slight tremor is felt in the hands and legs, which is an indication that the pressure of caffeine on the body has increased.

-Tea contains an element called tannin, which hinders the absorption of iron. If you drink tea along with or immediately after eating, the body does not get the iron it gets from food completely. If this happens for a long time, anemia may occur. According to experts, tea should be consumed at least one hour before or one hour after meals.

What does Ayurveda say?

-According to Ayurveda, tea is hot in nature. Drinking too much tea increases heat in the stomach. This can cause acidity and heartburn. Especially drinking tea on an empty stomach is considered most harmful. Drinking tea on an empty stomach in the morning makes the digestive fire unbalanced. Due to this, metabolism can get disturbed. You may feel heaviness or nausea throughout the day.

-If you take tea with milk and sugar in limited quantities then there will be no harm, but drinking too much can lead to weight gain. Sugar increases calorie intake in the body. Drinking tea with milk repeatedly causes unnecessary fat in the body. For this reason, weight loss and diabetic patients should pay special attention to both the quantity of tea and the sugar added to it.
