IND vs WI: India’s narrow win against West Indies gave a lot of relief to the team management. Coach Gautam Gambhir said that not only Sanju Samsno but also the small contributions of many others are important in this victory.
The Indian team faced criticism after the loss against South Africa. However, from there, Team India beat Zimbabwe and West Indies to book their ticket to the semis. Especially, India’s narrow win against West Indies gave a lot of relief to the team management. Coach Gautam Gambhir said that not only Sanju Samsno but also the small contributions of many others are important in this victory.
Small contributions played a big role in India’s victory in the crucial T20 World Cup match against the West Indies. When 17 runs were needed from 10 balls to win, Shivam Dubey came to the crease. He hit two crucial boundaries in just four balls and added two leg byes. These few runs turned the game around.
At the other end, Sanju Samson was in great form. He ended the match with a six and a four and remained unbeaten on 97 off 50 balls. His innings sealed India’s thrilling five-wicket victory and sent the team into the semi-finals.
After the match, Gautam Gambhir gave equal importance to the contribution of Dubey and Samson. He said that not only big innings but also small contributions are equally important to win matches. According to him, without those two fours by Dube, India might not have won and Samson’s innings would not have been so talked about.
Gambhir also said that cricket is always a team game. Big performances make headlines, but small contributions help the team reach its goals. So the team philosophy should be to value the contribution of every player, not just the stars.
Now India is preparing for the semi-final, where they will face England. The match will be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The fact that the two teams are facing each other at this stage for the third time in a row makes the match even more exciting.
