Siliguri: The ‘Northern Dishari Sixth Year All Bengal Vision Challengers Cup’ is going to start from Friday at Siliguri Suryanagar Purnigam ground.

The ‘Northern Dishari Sixth Annual All Bengal Vision Challengers Cup’ organized for visually impaired cricketers is going to start from Friday at the Suryanagar Purnigam ground. A lot of enthusiasm has already been created among the players and sports lovers around this three-day competition.
According to the organizers, the teams have been divided into two groups in this competition. Group ‘A’ consists of Siliguri Risers, Durgapur Challengers and Sundarban Tigers. On the other hand, Kolkata Capitals, Duars Terai Super XI and Darjeeling Royals will play in Group ‘B’. Siliguri and Durgapur will face each other in the opening match, and the final match will be held on Sunday.
Two members of the Indian team who won the T20 World Cup for the blind in 2022, Subhendu Mahato and Surjit Ghora, will be a special attraction in this competition. Shuvendu will play for Sundarban Tigers and Surjeet will play for Darjeeling Royals. Besides, two more cricketers from Bengal in the national team will also participate in this tournament.
Vice President of Cricket Association for the Blind of Bengal, Chinmoy Mondal said, this competition is not only a stage for playing, but also an area for testing the strength of the Bengal team. In his words, “Many of those who perform well here, later get a call to the Bengal team’s camp. Around 160 registered this time, but 90 cricketers have been selected on the basis of ranking.”
Siliguri Mayor Gautam Dev and Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar have been invited to attend the prize distribution ceremony of the competition. Besides, Mahantesh Gowda, president of Cricket Association for the Blind in India, may also be present.
