Turmeric Water Benefits: Nowadays, ‘turmeric water’ has become a big health trend on social media. Many people start their morning by drinking turmeric water on an empty stomach, they believe that it is very beneficial for health. Because, this increases immunity in the body and improves digestion. Also, the body gets detoxed. But is it safe for everyone to drink turmeric water on an empty stomach? Or drinking without thinking can spoil your health. Let us know from Dr. Rajkumar of Rishikesh.
Turmeric water in the morning on an empty stomach, is it really miraculous?
Dr. Rajkumar (Ayush) of Rishikesh told in a conversation with Local-18 that a powerful element called Curcumin is found in turmeric, which is rich in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This is the reason why turmeric has been used as a medicine in Ayurveda for a long time. Drinking turmeric water on an empty stomach in the morning can reduce swelling in the body, strengthen the digestive system and also benefit the skin. Many people also drink it for weight loss and to keep the body clean.
Not effective for everyone
However, turmeric water alone is not as effective for everyone. According to Ayurveda, if a small amount of neem is added to turmeric water, its benefits can increase further. Antibacterial, antifungal and blood purifying properties are found in Neem. When both turmeric and neem are taken together, it can help in cleansing the body from inside, improving the skin and strengthening the immune system.
Stomach irritation may be a problem like allergy.
Not every good thing is for everyone. Dr. Rajkumar warns that those who suffer from acidity or heartburn should drink it with caution. Patients suffering from BP problem should not take it without medical advice. Because, drinking turmeric and neem water daily on an empty stomach without consulting a doctor or without thinking can cause stomach irritation, acidity or allergy.
He said in clear words that people who already have gastric problems, low blood pressure or have to take any medicine regularly, should not take such health drinks daily without doctor’s advice.
What is the correct way and quantity of consumption?
Taking turmeric and neem water in excessive quantities can also be harmful. Its right quantity and right time is very important. Generally, drinking lukewarm water mixed with a pinch of turmeric and a very small amount of neem powder or a few neem leaves is considered sufficient. It is considered safer to take it a few days a week instead of daily.
