In Jaunpur, the Health Department is going to start a special vaccination campaign to protect adolescent girls from serious diseases like cervical cancer. Under this campaign, about 53 thousand girls in the age group of 14 to 15 years of the district will be vaccinated against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). The Health Department says that by getting this vaccine on time, daughters can be protected to a great extent from this dangerous disease.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Prabhat Kumar said that cervical cancer is one of the major cancer diseases in women, the main cause of which is human papilloma virus infection. HPV vaccine is very effective in preventing infection caused by this virus. He said that if this vaccine is given at the right age, then the risk of cervical cancer in future is significantly reduced.
He said that a target has been set to vaccinate about 53 thousand adolescent girls under this campaign in the district. This campaign has started in urban areas, while in rural areas the vaccination campaign will be conducted from April 1. Health department teams will administer this vaccine to adolescent girls through schools and health centers.
