Bumrah picked up his 500th wicket in international cricket in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 5 March. On the first ball of his first over of the match, he dismissed England captain Harry Brooke, who was caught by Akshar Patel. Bumrah has got 500 wickets in 235 matches for India. His bowling average of 20.62 in international cricket is the best of any player. So far, 42 bowlers in international cricket have managed to dismiss 500 or more batsmen, among them only Bumrah has a bowling average of less than 21. Fans fondly say – ‘Jassi Jaysi Koi Nehi’, really there is no one like him as a protector, savior when the Indian team is in dire straits in bowling. He is the one and only.
