GS Malik said on Saturday that police have made elaborate security and crowd control arrangements to ensure the high-profile match at the Narendra Modi Stadium goes smoothly.
“The historic T20 World Cup final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Police have completed all preparations. More than 3,000 policemen and around 1,000 home guards are being deployed for security,” he said.
The owner said that special measures have been taken to avoid overcrowding or any untoward incident near the gate of the stadium.
“Holding areas have been set up near Gate 1 and Gate 2, some distance towards the main road, so that there is no danger of crowding. This has never happened before, but this is an extra precaution. It is being done for the first time during a match,” he said.
Senior officials will also be present at the stadium to oversee the security arrangements.
“A Joint Commissioner of Police, 12 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and various levels of officers will be deployed for security,” Malik said.
He also informed that advanced surveillance and security systems are also being used.
“Three anti-drone systems will be deployed. Apart from this, eight bomb detection and disposal squad teams will be deployed. A drill has also been conducted today on security arrangements,” he said.
The police commissioner urged visitors to use public transport to avoid traffic. “Use bus or metro, then you can easily reach the stadium,” he said.
Malik said that after the end of the match, the transportation service will continue till night for the convenience of the visitors. Special arrangements have also been made for the safety of female visitors.
“Women police will be deployed along with male policemen. Women will be searched by female personnel and men by male personnel,” he said.
Besides, visitors have been warned not to park outside the designated area.
Special arrangements have been made inside the stadium to prevent anyone from entering the field during the match.
“A separate arrangement has been made to ensure that no one enters the field and it will be under the supervision of a DCP,” Malik said.
On the question of black market of match tickets, he said that strict action will be taken against those involved in such illegal activities.
