However, his career dreams were completely different before he got a name in the movies. He wanted to be a cricketer.

Aditya Dhar used to play competitive cricket at an early age. He dreamed of representing the Indian team. He was seen as a promising young player. He was determined to get a place in the Under-19 cricket team in early 2000. Even hoped to be in the squad for the 2002 U-19 World Cup.

But not everything went as planned. According to a report, Aditya lost the election opportunity. His place was given to Stuart Binny, son of Indian cricketer Roger Binny. In that tournament, Stuart Binny scored just 34 runs in six matches and took just two wickets, which later raised questions about the selection.

Priyadarshan revealed in an interview with Mashable India that Aditya Dhar used to sit at home, depressed. After that someone invited him to watch the movie Gordish. After watching it, Aditya Dhar decided that he would step into the world of cinema.

Aditya Dhar’s journey in the film industry was not easy. Like many newcomers, he faced rejection and disappointment. He also wrote screenplays for several movies. But did not get proper recognition. He later worked as an assistant director with Priyadarshan and also wrote the dialogues.

The Ranveer Singh starrer earned Rs 218 crore in its first week. The film crossed the Rs 500 crore mark in 16 days and eventually grossed over Rs 1,300 crore worldwide. It became the highest-grossing Hindi film in the world and became one of the biggest box office successes of the year.
