Washington. America has given a clear message through its new National Defense Strategy that now it will not bear the burden of security of its allies like before. This 34-page Pentagon report says that America will now give top priority to the security of its homeland and the Western Hemisphere, and not to stopping China. This strategy is an open counterattack to decades-old American policy. Till now, in the defense strategy that comes every four years, China was considered the biggest threat, but this time it has been said that China should be managed through strength instead of direct confrontation.

The report directly attacks the allied countries and says that America’s partners have been dependent on Washington for their security for years and have done nothing themselves. Now America is clearly saying that it is their responsibility to deal with the threat which is big for Europe or Asia. America’s attitude towards Russia also appeared soft. Despite the attack on Ukraine, Russia has been described as only ‘a manageable threat to NATO’s eastern countries’. Not only this, Taiwan’s name was not even taken into account in the strategy, which is being considered a big signal for China.

Trump’s harsh criticism on NATO, pressure to ask for money from allies
This strategy of President Donald Trump in his second term is a direct reflection of his ‘America First’ agenda. Trump has been continuously attacking NATO countries and has said that America ‘got nothing’ from the alliance. However, his claim that America bears 100% of NATO’s expenses is far from facts, but the politics of pressure is completely clear.

From Greenland to Panama, America’s tremendous aggression
In the new strategy, America has also made it clear that it will maintain military and commercial access to strategic areas like Panama Canal, Greenland and ‘Gulf of America’ at all costs – whether its allies want it or not.

The old world order is over!
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made a sharp statement about this strategy, saying, “The old world order will not return. If we are not at the table, we will be on the menu.” French President Emmanuel Macron also warned that the world is now moving forward ‘without rules’.

Clear message: Idealism ends, era of strength begins
The Pentagon’s strategy finally says openly – Utopian thinking is out, now is the time for hardcore realism. It means clearly that America will no longer take responsibility for the security of the world. Allies should fight and spend on their own… and the weaker ones will be left behind.
