Alcaraz had a tough test in the semifinals on Friday. The opponent was third seed Alexander Zarev of Germany. Alcaraz won the game 6-4, 7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 7-5 in about five and a half hours. Despite winning the first two sets at the start of the match, he lost the next two sets in tiebreakers. It was then that the impact of his injury became apparent.

The drama intensified in the fifth set. As Zerev served for the match, Alcaraz made a brilliant comeback. He broke that service and made it 5-5. The way Alcaraz made a comeback from injury surprised everyone. Holds serve in the next game to go ahead 6–5. After that, the Spanish star broke Jerev’s serve again and took the match.

After the win, Alcaraz said, “No matter how difficult the situation was, I believed in myself. This belief is what made me win.” Alcaraz added afterwards, ‘When I lost the third and fourth sets and the pain started, I still felt like I was going to win.
