Donald Trump Tariff News: US President Donald Trump has once again burst the tariff bomb. Donald Trump has now imposed 25 percent tariff on countries doing business with Iran. Donald Trump said on Monday that countries that do business with Iran will face a new 25% tariff. This announcement means that it will become much more expensive to import goods from China, which is a major trading partner of both Iran and the United States. Donald Trump has taken this decision to break Iran.

Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social on Monday, ‘Immediately implemented. Any country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a tariff of 25% on any and all business done with the United States of America. He further said, ‘This order is final and firm.’ Let us tell you that before this Donald Trump had threatened a direct attack on America. He has said that the option of attacking Iran is completely open.

This decision was taken to break Iran

According to Donald Trump, America is imposing 25 percent tariff on Iran’s trade partners because they want to put pressure on Tehran to take action against its violent protests. Hundreds of people have been killed in the protests taking place in Iran. The US President has repeatedly threatened Tehran with military action. Recently, Donald Trump had said that America would attack if his administration found out that the Islamic Republic was using deadly force against anti-government protesters.

There is a flaw in the decision

According to CNN, the White House and the Trump Administration did not explain how this 25 percent tariff would be implemented. Donald Trump also did not specify who would be considered doing business with Iran. Donald Trump has made the announcement, but questions are definitely being raised that how can these extra tariffs work, which countries will be targeted and will there be higher duty imposed not only on goods but also on services?

More tariffs on China

However, Trump’s announcement has come at a time when he has talked about American military intervention to allegedly save anti-government protesters in Iran. Phone and internet connections are closed in Iran. Due to this, the people of Iran are isolated from the outside world. The new tariff means that at least 45% tariff rate may be imposed on goods coming from China. Because already it is 20%. Meaning earlier it was 20 percent and now it is 25 percent. According to Chinese customs data, in the first 11 months of 2025, China exported goods worth $6.2 billion to Iran and imported goods worth $2.85 billion. This is before calculating the oil purchases, which China does not disclose publicly.

Will India also be affected?

Last year, the trade war between America and China shook the global market, when Trump increased the tariff on Chinese goods to 145% last year. The current tariff rate was decided after long negotiations. Apart from China, India, United Arab Emirates and Turkey are considered major trading partners of Iran. This summer, Donald Trump doubled the duty on goods coming from India to at least 50% to punish the country that buys Russian oil. He threatened to impose similar tariffs on other countries that buy Russian oil, including China, which is its biggest customer.
