A scary theory spreading about the Earth’s gravity ending this year is being posted on different social media and media outlets. It was being claimed that on August 12, 2026, at exactly 14:33 GMT, the Earth would lose its gravitational power for seven seconds.
This incident will not only stop the movement of the earth but due to this sudden change, standing people will start falling and due to this, at least 40 million i.e. 4 crore people may die. This theory was spread by saying that an alleged NASA document of November 2024 mentions this event under the name ‘Project Anchor’.

After this, people started sharing it rapidly on Instagram and X. One user even claimed that 6 crore people will die due to this incident. This rumor spread rapidly, now NASA itself had to come forward and clarify.
Talking to fact-checking website Snopes, NASA clearly said that it is scientifically impossible for this to happen. This theory has been officially rejected by NASA. NASA spokesperson said that the Earth’s gravity depends on its mass.
He further said that unless the total mass of the Earth’s core, mantle, surface, ocean, water and atmosphere is reduced, gravity cannot be eliminated. He said in clear words that Earth’s gravity will not end on August 12, 2026, nor has NASA ever said this.
At present, NASA has made it clear that the matter of ending gravity is a complete rumor and people do not need to be afraid of such claims. Meanwhile, to spread fear about 2026, people are once again pointing to the predictions of Nostradamus.
However, according to reports, Nostradamus did not make any direct predictions for 2026. Still, some people are giving arbitrary interpretation of his poems and are expressing fear of assassination of some big leader or war. It is a different matter that he had not said this anywhere.
