Firozabad. As the festival of Holi approaches, there is a glut of sweets, namkeen, chips, papad and other food items in the markets. But complaints of adulteration also increase during festivals. In such a situation, the Food Department has now adopted a strict stance against the shopkeepers doing adulteration. The teams of the department are continuously conducting raids and samples of suspicious food items are being sent for testing. If found guilty, the goods may be seized along with legal action and jail sentence.

Special attention on more bright and colorful foods
Firozabad Food Assistant Commissioner Dr. Chandan Pandey said that there is a possibility of adulteration in many food items sold in the market on the occasion of Holi. Especially in chips, papad, churri and sweets, artificial colors are used to make them more attractive, which can be harmful to health. He told that some shopkeepers add substandard oil or color to food items in the greed of selling more. To stop this, the department has started a special campaign. The team is not only roaming in the markets and taking samples, but is also making the shopkeepers aware, so that no one’s health is compromised.

Raids at many places, action taken if adulteration is found
According to the Food Department, till now raids have been conducted at more than ten places, where in some cases adulteration of oil and sugar has been found. The department says that this campaign is being run not only for action, but also for the purpose of increasing awareness. Dr. Pandey has appealed that if anyone suspects adulteration anywhere, they should immediately inform the department. For this, the department’s helpline number 9458235661 has been issued. By getting timely information, adulteration can be effectively stopped and people’s health will be protected.
