Health Tips: Kaunch plant is also found among the valuable medicinal trees and plants in the forests of Vindhya region. In the local rural language it is called Kimach and Kinwach. The fruits and other parts of Kaunch growing spontaneously in rural forests are used in daily life according to their nature. However, the special type of hairs present on its fruits cause unbearable itching, due to which the villagers are afraid to even go near it. Ayurveda Medical Officer Dr. Vipin Singh told that its scientific name is Mukuna Pririansh. The seeds, leaves and roots of this plant are full of medicinal properties. It has anti-tremor properties, which are helpful in removing body tremors, inability to walk and weakness of the nervous system. Kaunch Beej is used in Ayurveda to correct physical, mental and hormonal imbalances. Being a Vajikarana chemical, its seed powder is considered useful in problems like hormonal imbalance, weakness and impotence. However, excessive consumption may cause diarrhea. Pregnant women, lactating mothers and children should not consume it.
