What should be the lipid level?
The amount of HDL cholesterol in the body should be more than 40. We can increase HDL cholesterol levels through exercise. However, unfortunately there is no medicine to increase good cholesterol. If we talk about triglyceride, it should be below 200. The increase in triglycerides also increases due to our poor diet, eating too much sweet and oily food and irregular lifestyle. We should control the sugar level, do not consume alcohol and we can keep it low through medicines. There is also an extended lipid profile, in which lipoprotein A is seen. This is also a type of bad cholesterol which increases the risk of heart attack in our body.
When should lipid test be done?
Guidelines say that the way lifestyle is going on today, cases of heart attack and cardiac arrest are being seen. Every person should get his lipid profile tested after 20-25 years. You can get your lipids checked every 5 years till the age of 40. Whereas after the age of 40, get your lipid profile checked once every year.
