World Obesity Day 2026: In today’s times, obesity has become the biggest problem in the world. Crores of people are struggling with this and it is the cause of many serious diseases. According to health experts, obesity is the root of hundreds of diseases that hollow the body from within. Obesity gradually reduces the functioning of our body organs and by the time its obvious symptoms appear, a lot of damage has been done to the body. Controlling weight in time is important not only for looking better but also for a healthy and long life.

Dr. Kapil Kochhar, Director of Minimal Access, Bariatric and Robotic Surgery Department of Yatharth Hospital, Noida Extension said. That excess fat accumulated around the stomach acts like a silent killer within the body. This fat disrupts the process of insulin, due to which the person gradually becomes vulnerable to diabetes. Not only this, increased weight puts heavy pressure on the nerves of the heart, which can cause heart attack or stroke without any warning. Apart from this, the accumulation of fat in the liver and the swelling that persists in the body badly affects the kidneys and joints, due to which the entire body becomes home to diseases. The risk of many types of cancer can also increase due to obesity.

The doctor clearly said that in order to lose weight overnight, taking injections without expert advice or adopting extreme low-calorie crash diet can be fatal. Such efforts disturb the balance of water and salt in the body, which can cause serious problems like irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness and digestive system malfunction. It is important to lose weight under doctor’s supervision because weight lost too quickly often comes back again. Obesity is a medical condition, which should be solved scientifically and safely.

Dr. Pragati Jain, Senior Consultant, Gynecology Department, Yatharth Super Specialty Hospital, Sector 110, Noida said. That there has been an increase of 25 to 35% in the cases of irregular menstruation and delay in pregnancy in OPD, the main reason for which is increased weight. About 70-80% of women suffering from PCOS are obese. Stress, staying awake till late night and eating outside is making this problem more serious. It is a matter of concern that the problems which were earlier seen in mature age, are now increasingly being seen in girls of younger age group of 16 to 20 years. The good thing is that if weight is balanced in time, the risk of reproductive health related problems and other lifestyle related diseases can be reduced to a great extent.
