Bangalore: Despite being champions of the tournament last time, 11 fans were trampled during RCB’s title victory celebration outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium. KohliThere was a big question mark about whether they would play at their home ground at all. Chinnaswamy was finally given the responsibility of organizing the IPL 2026 matches after ensuring tight security. But after last Friday’s incident, the security of that field is once again in question.
April 24 RCB fielded at Chinnaswamy against Gujarat Titans. On the morning of that match, suddenly, while monitoring all the systems, it was found that about 240 cameras inside the stadium were offline. The cameras at various places like the entrance gate to the stadium, the corporate stand suddenly stopped. But this camera set-up was one of the biggest reasons for getting permission to host IPL matches at Chinnaswamy. These cameras were installed at Chinnaswamy by RCB to increase security to avoid any untoward situation. And that camera is not offline! Naturally, this incident calls into question the security of the field.
Aditya Bhatt, an employee of a Gurugram-based firm called Staqu Technologies Pvt Ltd, later filed an FIR on April 25 at the Cavan Park police station. It was this company that got the tender to provide CCTV camera security at Chinnaswamy. They tender to another company. In this incident, two suspects, 37-year-old Manjunath of Hiriur of Chitradurg district and 19-year-old Abdul Kalam of Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh have been identified and arrested. They are seen moving towards the CCTV control room and various connection boxes. That’s why I doubt it.
In cross-examination, Manjunathas said that they decided to commit such an incident out of anger against the company. Allegedly, they owe about 10 lakh rupees. However, despite repeatedly telling the company that won the original tender, no profit was made. Then they took this decision. Because of this incident but in Chinnaswamy IPL Doubts have been created whether the final will be held or not. However, the Karnataka Cricket Association claimed that there was no lapse in security during the match. The whole thing happened before the match and the problem was solved before the visitors entered the stadium.
