Belfast: June 26 may be written in black letters in the history of Indian cricket. Because, on this day, Team India had to digest a shameful loss by 34 runs in the first T20 match against Ireland. This is the first time in the history of cricket that Ireland beat India in any format.

With this loss, Team India’s dominance against Ireland ended. Now the question arises that why the strong star-studded team India had to lose against the team of Ireland, in which 6 key players did not play due to injuries? The Irish team also had 2 players who made their debuts in this match. What are the 3 main reasons for India’s loss?

1 – Bowling after winning the toss

Indian captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl. The pitch at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast was quite favorable for batting, where the Indian team could have put more than 200 runs on the board by batting first. Chasing such a big score would not have been easy for Ireland, but captain Iyer decided to bowl. Batting first, Ireland posted a score of 182 on the board, chasing which the Men in Blue were bowled out for 148 in 18.5 overs.

2 – Prasiddha Krishna to complete 4 overs

The famous fast bowler Krishna was not in the rhythm from the start. He spent 15 runs in the first over. Despite Prashid’s costly overs, skipper Shreyas Iyer trusted him and bowled the full four overs. He gave 30 runs in 10 economy without taking a famous wicket in three overs. He was then given the fourth over, where he made 27 runs, while Shreyas had the option of the rest of the bowlers. He scored a maximum of 57 runs in 4 overs.

3 – Harakiri of batsmen

Indian batsmen are seen in a hurry while chasing runs. The beginning was fine though. The team lost the third wicket for 60 runs, when Shreyas Iyer was dismissed. Then the fourth wicket fell on 80 runs, when Abhishek Sharma returned to the pavilion with a 50 run. Even after the fall of four wickets, the Indian batsmen maintained an aggressive attitude, resulting in quick wickets. Couldn’t build any big pairs in the middle overs, which was a big reason for India’s loss.
