Mumbai batsman Siddhesh Lad came into the limelight after his brilliant batting against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy match on Friday. He got a unique achievement by scoring a hundred in this match. Ladd has made his name among the elite list of batsmen who have scored five or more centuries in a single Ranji Trophy season. Earlier only Russi Modi and legend Sachin Tendulkar achieved this feat for Mumbai.
In the nearly 90-year history of the Ranji Trophy, only 26 batsmen have scored five or more hundreds in a season. Ladd made it to the list with an unbeaten 102 against Delhi on Friday. He hit 12 fours in 178 balls. This is his fourth consecutive century in the Ranji Trophy. Thanks to his innings, Mumbai scored 266 runs for 5 wickets.
Subhed Parker played an important role with Lad in this match. He scored an unbeaten 53 runs. The duo’s unbroken 130-run partnership in the sixth wicket brought Mumbai back into the match. Earlier, Delhi, who scored 221 runs in the first innings, took some wickets regularly and put some pressure on Mumbai. At the end of the day’s play, Mumbai took a lead of 45 runs.
After the match, Lad said that it is his dream to play for India, but he is not thinking much about the future. For now, his aim is to win the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai. After playing for Goa, he wants to return to Mumbai and repay the MCA’s trust. Siddhesh Lad sees the father’s name not as pressure, but as pride.
