Carelessness can be dangerous
Dr. Pallav Prajapati, while talking to Local 18, has given a serious warning regarding tooth decay i.e. cavity. He told that the main cause of cavity is not cleaning the teeth properly. When plaque and bacteria keep accumulating on the teeth, gradually cavities start appearing in the teeth. It is often seen that parents ignore the decay in children’s teeth, which they consider to be a normal problem, but this negligence can prove to be dangerous in the future.

Infection can spread to other teeth
According to Dr. Prajapati, if tooth decay is not treated on time, it can reach the root i.e. the root canal and the infection can spread to other teeth as well, in such a situation the disease can take a complicated form and the treatment can be long and expensive. He said that by getting treatment in the beginning, it is possible to solve the problem with less expense and less procedure, but if there is a delay, root canal treatment may be required. If the infection spreads, it can have adverse effects on the mouth as well as other parts of the body.

Will be helpful in reducing bacteria
To prevent tooth decay, he stressed on regular brushing and oral hygiene. Besides, the remedies mentioned in Ayurveda were also found to be effective. Referring to the ‘oil pulling’ technique, he said that in this the medicinal oil is kept in the mouth for some time, rinsed and then spitted out. This process can be helpful in reducing oral bacteria. In Ayurveda it has been described in the form of methods like ‘Kaval’ and ‘Gandush’. In different situations, oil, decoction or water is used as per doctor’s advice.

Do not take dental problems lightly
At the same time, Dr. Prajapati said that by adopting these traditional methods, teeth can be kept healthy and problems like bad breath, blisters and tooth decay can be avoided. He appealed to the people not to take dental problems lightly and to consult a specialist in time and get proper treatment, so that serious problems can be avoided in future.
