Dr. Smita tells that Amla is rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants and minerals. Its water increases immunity in winter. This prevents cold, cough and viral infections. The skin remains glowing. Hair does not turn white.

Generally people consume Amla in the form of chutney, murabba or juice, but very few people know that Amla water is also very beneficial for health. Dr. Smita Srivastava (BAMS Lucknow University), Medical Officer-in-charge of Government AYUSH Hospital, Shivgarh in Rae Bareli district, tells Local 18 that Amla is rich in Vitamin-C, antioxidants and minerals. When Amla is soaked or boiled in water and drunk, its nutrients are easily absorbed in the body. In winter, this water plays an important role in increasing immunity, which prevents cold, cough and viral infections.

According to Dr. Smita Srivastava, Amla water also strengthens the digestive system. Amla water is a panacea for people who suffer from constipation, gas or indigestion. Consuming it on an empty stomach in the morning keeps the stomach clean and metabolism improves. It also helps in detoxifying the liver, which keeps the body healthy from inside. In winter the skin becomes dry and lifeless. In such a situation, Amla water is also considered beneficial for the skin. The antioxidants present in it make the skin glowing and reduce the problem of wrinkles. It is also beneficial in the problem of hair fall and premature greying.

Dr. Smita Srivastava tells that to make gooseberry water, cut 2-3 gooseberries and soak them in a glass of water at night or boil the gooseberries and filter the water. This water can be consumed in the morning. However, excessive consumption should be avoided and in case of any serious illness, consult a doctor.
