Sandeep Sarkar, Kolkata: He is a member of his state’s cricket association. However, the Indian Cricket Board gave a big responsibility. BCCI has appointed former Bengal offspinner Saurasish Lahiri as the assistant coach of Team One for the upcoming Emerging Tournament at the Center of Excellence in Bangalore. He will work under head coach Wasim Zafar.

The Indian Cricket Board’s Center of Excellence chief VVS Laxman Sourashis emailed the good news on Saturday. Sourasis has been assigned the task of assistant coach of Team One of the four teams that will play in the men’s emerging tournament starting from July 6. The former Bengal cricketer has been asked to reach Bengaluru on July 5.

Sourashis has been removed from the post of coach of Bengal U19 team by CAB. Then the former Bengal offspinner expressed his disappointment. In an exclusive interview given to ABP Live Bangla, Sourashis expressed his anger and said that he was angered for not compromising with corruption and protesting injustice. The veteran of many wars of Bengal also made a serious complaint that Bengal cricket is being destroyed due to vote politics in the hall of CAB. His comments caused an uproar in the arena. He was sent a notice from the CAB and was told to appear before a committee. However, the exact allegations against him have not been made clear. There is confusion about the working methods of the committee. Allegedly, letters are not being sent to Sourashis on time. Saurashis submitted his statement through a lawyer. The hearing of that incident is still pending.

In the meantime, Sourashis got big news from the board. He told ABP Live Bangla, ‘I have faced many storms in the past few days. Then this news is very comforting. I understand, then I was not excluded from the coaching panel of Bengal due to the eligibility criteria. Then the Indian Cricket Board would not have given such a big responsibility. It seems like I got a chance in the Indian team, but was left out of the state team.’

Sourashis was last seen in Bengal jersey in 2015. Then he retired. The following season, in 2016, CAB made him an assistant coach to spin bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan in the Vision 2020 project. Sourav Gangopadhyay was then CAB president. Abhishek Dalmiya Secretary. After working for about a year, he was given the responsibility of the Bengal U-23 team in the next season. After taking charge, Sourashis gave the team a trophy at the national level, which once could not escape the shame of relegation. He was saying, ‘A bunch of cricketers made it to the senior team by playing well from the under-23 team. sky lamp Indian teamHe gets a call. I insisted on creating a supply line. Its results were also seen.’

Later Sourashis was coached by the senior team of Bengal. In his training Ranji TrophySourashis was coached under 19 team after Bengal became the runner-up. He was saying, ‘When the CAB gave me the responsibility, I have fulfilled it. After retirement, I did not come directly to the coaching of the team. Handled the responsibility in the vision project. I am grateful to CAB for showing confidence in me at that time. But this time being dropped was a big shock for me. The question arose about my coaching career. In fact, if a cricketer runs in 3 matches, he always plans how to beat the team in the fourth match, how to bat. And if someone fails in three matches, doubts arise in his mind about getting a place in the team in the fourth match. In my case it was the opposite. Despite being successful in three matches, it was as if he had to be eliminated in the next one.’

CAB’s neglect still pains Saurashis. He said, ‘This time taught me a lot. I learned the meaning of life. The family was there. The Adams group, who I coached to win the Bengal Pro T20 League, were there.’ Sourashis also thanked former CAB president Abhishek Dalmiya. Saying, ‘Miki (Abhishek’s nickname) brother was by my side. Said not to worry. The board’s e-mail finally restored my confidence. Meant, I was not wrong.’

Emerging at the center of excellence in Bengaluru, this tournament is the first step in building the future of Team India in red ball cricket. 4 teams will play three four-day matches. Senior selection committee chief Ajit Agarkar and junior selection committee members will be present. After this tournament, India’s emerging team will tour Sri Lanka for a four-day match series. Saurashis is excited to be given a big responsibility in the project of building the Indian cricket team of the future.
