Sandeep Sarkar, Kolkata: Someone is fighting cancer. Someone is paralyzed by paralysis. Someone is suffering from chronic kidney disease.

Pranab Roy, the former cricketer of the national team, the former captain of the Bengal cricket team, proposed CAB to stand by such cricketers of Bengal (Bengal Cricket Team) who are fighting with terminal diseases. Who is the son of legend Pankaj Roy.

A few days ago there was a CAB Apex Council meeting. Bengal T20 League was discussed in the meeting. Pranab Roy was in that meeting as the representative of Indian Cricketers Association. Although it was not on the agenda of the meeting, he requested the CAB to stand by the former cricketers of Bengal suffering from incurable diseases with the consent of all.

Former Bengal cricketer Parth Sen is suffering from cancer. Bengal cricket legend Palash Nandi is also back after battling cancer. Subrata Podel has practically lost the ability to walk. Sagamoy Sensharma was also seriously ill.

Indian Cricket Board provides financial grants for former cricketers. Besides, CAB has two grants for over 60 cricketers who have played 9 to 23 matches in first class cricket. A monthly 7 thousand rupees. 8 thousand rupees per month as the cost of buying another medicine. However, to get money for medical expenses, you have to apply to CAB.

However, the cost of treatment for terminally ill patients is huge. Not everyone is able to afford that cost. Veteran cricketers have to suffer. Pranab Roy has appealed to the CAB to stand by their side.

Pranav believes that the senior cricketers will feel reassured if the CAB takes responsibility for the skyrocketing prices of vital drugs and costly treatment. He told ABP Live Bangla, ‘At one time, the Indian Cricket Board took all the responsibility for the treatment of Anshuman Gaikwad who was suffering from cancer. All the cricketers who shed their blood for the state, for the country deserve this. But not everyone has cancer or terminal disease. Maybe the number is one percent or less. I have proposed that CAB takes full responsibility for the treatment of such cricketers. CAB has mediclaim. But that is nothing in case of terminal disease. We want the CAB to take full responsibility for the treatment of incurable diseases.’

Pranab also said, ‘If such a system is in place, the cricketers will be somewhat reassured mentally in their old, weak bodies.’ It is learned that CAB President Sourav Gangopadhyay has assured that he will seriously consider the matter. It is said that it will be discussed in the next meeting of the Apex Council.
