Sandeep Sarkar, Kolkata: Sunday is a holiday. On top of that, the Fossils-Show at the Eden Gardens. Rupam is the unmistakable attraction of Islam. With a pair of final touches. The ideal cocktail of cricket and entertainment could have been cricket paradise.

Maybe I have to write because the festival is celebrated in the rain. Calcutta and South Bengal’s public life has been affected by the disaster since Sunday morning. The Bengal T20 League double final at Eden was on Sunday. The girls final was at 11:30 am. Adams Howrah Warriors and Murshidabad Queens were supposed to meet in the match. In the men’s final in the evening, Srachchi Red Tigers and Sobisco Smashers Malda meet.

Before that, there was a show by Rupam Islam and his band Fossils at 5:30 pm. A crowd of young people was seen heading to Eden since noon. Most of them have black bandanas on their foreheads. It says ‘Joy Rock’, ‘Fossils’. Be it metro or bus, Fossil fans are the tide. CAB arranged free entry to Eden for the final and the Fossils-show. B, C, K and L blocks were opened. Several visitors were also present at the club house. In all, about ten thousand people. Most of them came to see Rupam’s performance.

Rupam appeared on the field much before the scheduled time of the show. But the rain continued. Because of which the women’s final was lost. In the afternoon, the CAB announced that the girls’ final was postponed. But not canceled. The match will be on Monday morning. Rain stopped the men’s final, however, leading to a night-time start.

Rupam won hearts in the rainy city. The temporary stage erected in front of CAB’s club house was practically covered with umbrellas. Rupam performed in it. The ceremony was over an hour late. A magical evening lit up with laser shows and fireworks. Rupam sang three of his popular songs. Toxic man, touch your hand one more time and smile. Then he ended the program. However, many of the audience were disappointed that Rupam did not perform some more songs. Some were saying that they had come from far away to watch the Rupam ceremony and the finale. But little had to be satisfied.

Rupam met CAB President Saurabh Gangopadhyay. Around him revolved the mercury of Eden’s madness.
