Child Swallows Hulk Toy: In Gujarat, a one and a half year old child swallowed a Hulk toy. After this he started vomiting and became very upset. When the family took him to the hospital, the toy was clearly visible in the X-ray. After this, the doctors saved the child’s life by taking out the toy through endoscopy. According to doctors, if a child swallows a toy or any sharp object, he should be taken to the hospital immediately. Delay in this may result in loss of life of the child.
When the baby turns one year old, he tries to put most things in his mouth. Many times, while playing, a child puts a marble, pin, nail, coin, magnet or button battery in his mouth and swallows it. Due to this, he starts having difficulty in breathing and his health deteriorates. In such a condition, it is very important to take the person to the hospital immediately.
Dr. Anil Arora, Chairman of the Gastroenterology Department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, told News18 that there is a phase of development of children. When babies turn 6 months old, they try to recognize things with their mouth and take everything in their mouth. In such a situation, parents should be extremely careful.
The doctor told that when a child swallows things like coin, marble, button battery, magnet, pin, needle or nail, then these things often get stuck in his food pipe. In this condition he is unable to breathe and his health starts deteriorating. If something is smooth, then it reaches the stomach. Sharp objects often get stuck in the throats of children.

Nowadays, the trend of battery toys has increased and they contain button batteries and magnets. If a child swallows these things, they pose the greatest danger. Magnets stick the intestines together, making the condition serious. Many times the magnet has different pieces, which sometimes becomes difficult even for doctors to remove.

If the child swallows something and it is stuck at the top of the throat, then it can come out by patting the back, but in such a situation, parents should avoid taking out that thing with their hands.
Doctor Arora says that if the child has difficulty in breathing, food is getting stuck, vomiting or the child is crying, then it could be a sign of swallowing something. In such a condition, parents should immediately take the child to the nearest hospital and get it examined by a doctor. If the child swallows something and comes to the hospital within 4-6 hours, then that thing gets mixed in the stomach and it becomes easy to remove it.
According to experts, if a toy, marble or any sharp object reaches the intestines from the stomach, the intestine can burst and in such a condition, immediate operation is required. If a toy, marble, coin, magnet or battery is stuck in the throat, then endoscopy is used to remove these things. In this, many equipments are used as per the need. Many times things are first broken using a laser and then they are removed.
If there is a magnet in the stomach, there is a separate device for that too, which pulls the magnet out. According to the condition, doctors follow many procedures including endoscopy, so that the life of the child can be saved. Parents should take special care of small children, so that they do not swallow anything wrong and if this happens, do not delay in taking them to the hospital. Due to this, the child may die or the condition may become serious.
