India has joined the US-led Pax Silica initiative. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore called it a major strategic step during the signing ceremony of the Pax Silica Declaration in New Delhi. He said that this will further strengthen cooperation between India and America in the field of Artificial Intelligence and secure supply chain. This agreement has been reached at a time when talks are going on about US President Donald Trump’s visit to India.

While talking to News 18, US Ambassador Sergio Gore informed that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is going to visit India soon. His visit is part of the Quad countries tour. He has said that Marco Rubio’s visit will not be limited only to bilateral talks but will also be related to cooperation with Japan and Australia. Along with this he has also said that the American President wants to come to India soon. PM Modi has already invited him to visit India.

What is Pax Silica deal between India and America?

  1. India’s participation in this initiative is extremely important as Pax Silica is a framework designed to strengthen trusted technical partnerships and economic security. He said that America can share safe AI technology with trusted partners like India.
  2. Pax Silica is a major initiative of the US State Department, which aims to increase cooperation in the field of AI and supply chain security. Its purpose is to create a new economic security system among the allied countries. In this initiative, emphasis has been laid on strong and secure supply chains from raw materials to semiconductors and AI infrastructure.

Pax Silica Declaration has been signed by countries like Australia, Greece, Israel, Japan, Qatar, South Korea, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom. Some other countries and organizations are also participating in it. India’s participation is also part of broader efforts to secure critical minerals supply chains and increase international cooperation in emerging technologies. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar had also recently said that excessive dependence in the supply chain creates risks and global cooperation is necessary. Joining Pax Silica is considered to be the beginning of a new phase in India-US relations, in which emphasis will be placed on reliable AI systems, strong supply chains and shared economic security.

Sergio Gore said that India’s independent strategic thinking and ability to determine its own path makes its role in this alliance more special. India’s participation in this took place during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held in New Delhi. It is the first major AI summit held in the Global South, bringing together policy-makers, industry leaders and experts to discuss responsible AI and technological development.
