Dr. Dharmendra Bansal, senior physician of Shaheed Raghavendra Singh Sub District Health Center located in Rajakheda subdivision of Dholpur district, said that guava is considered an excellent source of Vitamin C in winter.

Dr. Dharmendra Bansal said that guava contains more Vitamin C than orange, which helps in protecting from cold and flu. Besides, the dietary fiber present in it removes problems like constipation, gas and acidity and strengthens the digestive system. The glycemic index of guava is low, due to which it is helpful in controlling blood sugar. The potassium and fiber present in it are considered good for heart health and help in keeping cholesterol balanced.

Due to having less calories and more fiber, it is also beneficial for those who want to lose weight. Apart from this, the antioxidants present in guava keep the skin young and protect it from wrinkles. Vitamin A is helpful in improving eyesight, while magnesium helps in reducing stress and inducing good sleep. According to the doctor, in cold weather it is more beneficial to eat guava with peel and seeds along with salt or black pepper.

It should be eaten in the morning or afternoon, while one should avoid eating guava at night or immediately after a heavy meal. If we talk about the price, there is an increase in the prices of guava in winter. About 1500 to 2000 kg of guava is being consumed daily in Rajkheda subdivision area of Dholpur district, whereas 8 to 9 thousand kg of guava is being sold daily in the entire Dholpur district. At present the price of guava in the market is said to be around Rs 40 to 45 per kg.
