Chennai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are not in a good place in the tournament. Like a poison boil on the stomach, Ayush Matra got injured midway through the IPL.
Finally, the five-time IPL champions found a change of pace. As a minor change, Chennai included 32-year-old fast bowler Akash Madhwal in the squad.
Ayush Matar suffered a hamstring injury while batting against Sunrisers Hyderabad, ruling him out for the entire season. Madhwal will be paid Rs 30 lakh to join the CSK team.
Akash Madhwal bowled right arm fast. He made his IPL debut in 2019 as a net bowler for RCB. In the 2022 season, Mumbai Indians (Mumbai Indians) included him in the team as a replacement for Suryakumar Yadav. IPL In 2023 he performed brilliantly for Mumbai Indians taking 14 wickets in 8 matches.

Akash Madhwal hit the headlines when Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs 1 crore 20 lakh in the 2025 mega auction. He was fetched heavily at the auction, but his performance did not live up to expectations. In the 2025 season for Rajasthan, he managed to take only 4 wickets in 4 matches and proved to be quite expensive.
Chennai Super Kings also needed a bowler. Nathan Ellis was knocked out before the start of the tournament. Meanwhile, Khalil Amed was also ruled out for the entire season due to an injury a few days ago. In such a situation Akash Madhwal’s arrival is good news for the Chennai team.
But Ayush was batting in the opening while Akash is a bowler. Now the question arises that who will open in the opening along with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
