Bangalore: IPL (IPL 2026) four matches of the playoff phase where will be held, the Indian Cricket Board has announced. And BCCI gave a big surprise there. Because, breaking the rules, the IPL final was given at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad.
In fact, the team that wins the IPL, the opening and final of the IPL will be held at the home venue of that team next time. A qualifier match is also given. But last time that rule was broken. 2024 IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders. Accordingly, the inauguration and finals were scheduled to take place in 2025 KKRs home in Eden Gardens. But in the end, although the opening of the IPL was held in Eden, the final was moved to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad due to the India-Pakistan war.
This year’s IPL final has also been moved. The final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Besides, playoff matches have been given in Dharamshala and New Chandigarh.
Royal Challengers Bangalore won the last IPL. Virat became the champion after ending a long wait of 18 years KohliRa. this time IPLIt was inaugurated in Bangalore. The final was also expected to be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. But that match was given at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Why was the match moved from Bangalore? The Indian Cricket Board cited ‘operational’ and ‘logistical’ reasons. It is also said that the playoff matches are being played in three centers due to special reasons.
Qualifier One will be played on May 26 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. The top two teams in the points table will face each other there. Those who win will reach the finals, those who lose will play in the second qualifier. Eliminator will be played on May 27, Mullapur, New Chandigarh. The two teams ranked third and fourth in the points table will play there. Those who lose will leave. Whoever wins, will play Qualifier Two against the loser of Qualifier One. The second qualifier will be played on May 29, at Mullapur, New Chandigarh. The final will be held on May 31, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Indian Cricket Board said in a statement, ‘The final was supposed to be held in Bangalore. However, some demands of the local cricket organizations and authorities cannot be met as per the rules of the Indian Cricket Board. That is why the center has been changed.’
