New Delhi: The movement (NEET Protest) has been going on for the past many days in Delhi over the leaking of various examination papers including NEET. Manu Bhaker, who won multiple medals in one Olympics as the only athlete for India, stood next to that movement. According to the star shooter, there is a need to think about the future of the country above any political ideology and take responsibility for the current situation.

He stood in support of the students on his social media without naming anyone and wrote, ‘Now it is the life of the future of the country, our life. I am a student and we all are students in one way or another. All children in the country have the right to education, protection and a safe life. It is not a special right, rather it is a fundamental right of all. The students who lost their lives were the future of the country. Their dreams, their potential and their future should have been protected.’

It was then that the 24-year-old athlete went above and beyond political ideology to address the issue. Expressing his concern about the current situation as an athlete representing India, he wrote, ‘It is not a matter of promoting any political party or opposing anyone. It is education, environment, safety and responsibility, that should be talked about. Regardless of what we believe, these issues affect all of our lives. I feel very proud to represent the country. That’s why it breaks my heart to see students in such condition. We owe them something better. We need to ensure that every child can learn, grow and dream without fear.’

It may be mentioned that yesterday, prominent social and environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was on hunger strike at this Jantar Mantar, was taken away by the Delhi Police from the protest site to Safdarjung Hospital. Sonam’s wife Gitanjali filed a petition asking for Sonam to be shifted from the government Safdarjung Hospital to a private nursing home. However, the plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court in a hearing of about 40 minutes. Sonam is currently in Safdarjung Hospital. But there is also news that he is continuing his hunger strike.
