Running to the toilet immediately after eating is due to the gastrocolic reflex.
Why People Go Toilet After Meals: Many people immediately run to the toilet after eating food. Something like this must have happened to you too at some time or the other. Urinating after eating food is considered normal, but running to freshen up does not seem normal. This situation may sometimes seem uncomfortable and worrying. According to health experts, this is not always a sign of any serious problem, but if this happens again and again, then you should definitely consult a doctor.
According to Dr. Joseph Salhab, a gastroenterologist based in Florida, America, the urge to defecate immediately after eating is often due to the gastrocolic reflex. This is a normal reaction of the body, which is activated when food reaches the stomach. Under this reflex, the colon contracts and tries to create new space in the digestive system. In some people this reaction is more intense, due to which the need for bowel movement is felt immediately after eating food. This does not at all mean that the food you just ate comes out immediately. Actually the stool is already present in the large intestine. The entry of food into the stomach only accelerates the activity of the intestines. This reflex may be more active in people who have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), lactose intolerance, or sensitivity to certain foods.
