Karachi: Kamran Akmal was impressed by Rohit Sharma’s century innings against England in the third ODI at Lord’s. The former Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman is full of praise for the hitman. He stopped many people by playing a sparkling innings of 138 runs off 110 balls at Lord’s. Those who were raising questions about his form, whether he has run out or not, have closed their mouths. Kamran Akmal says, ‘There was a lot of speculation about Rohit Sharma’s future recently. There were speculations that he might not be part of India’s future plans and might not get a chance at the 2027 World Cup. At Lord’s against England, Rohit gave a strong reply to all those criticisms with his bat.

Rohit’s innings is a ‘S’TateAkmal sees as ‘ment’. He said, ‘Rohit reminded the cricketing world once again why he is still one of the best ODI batsmen in the world. The decision to leave is their own. World class players like Rohit and Virat should be judged by their performance on the field and not by their words. Why would they leave the party if someone pushed them out? When the time seems right, they will withdraw themselves.’

Rohit did not get any runs in the first two matches of the recently concluded three-match ODI series against England. His batsmen scored only 11 and 26 runs respectively. Various media reports claimed that Rohit might be dropped from the team after the Lord’s match. It was even said that he might decide to retire after the match. However, BCCI secretary Debjit Saikia later said that the whole thing was fake news. Saikia said that Rohit will continue to play for India even after the England series.

He then scored his first century at Lord’s Rohit. Former India captain said, ‘My job is to play with the bat. To get on the field and represent the country—that’s what I’ve been asked to do since my debut and that’s what I’ve been doing. From the time of Abhishek there were various talks or rumours. As long as I play, these will remain. These matters are of no importance to me. The real thing is how I am performing on the field. My only aim is to try to contribute to the team’s success.’
