Colombo: Sri Lankan cricketer (Sri Lanka Cricket) is in trouble with serious allegations. Two Sri Lankan under 19 cricketers were arrested. What exactly happened?
The Sri Lankan U19 team was at Narhenpita in Colombo. It was there that two Under-19 cricketers were allegedly videoing women’s bathing scenes through mobile phones. The two accused cricketers were later arrested by the police earlier this week. However, according to a report by ESPNCricinfo, after the arrest, the two cricketers got bail for five lakh Sri Lankan rupees. According to the Sri Lankan police, the Narhenpita police are investigating whether the recorded videos have been released online.
The two accused cricketers were initially produced in the Aluthkar Magistrate Court. Their next hearing will be on May 25. However, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has not yet taken any action at the board level on behalf of the two cricketers. But the Sri Lankan Cricket Board is also in Damadol for now. The government of that country has taken over the responsibility of Cricket Sri Lanka by relieving the previous board members from their duties. So for now it is quite time consuming for this board to take any decision on this matter.
The Sri Lankan government dissolved the country’s previous cricket board on Wednesday. Shammi Silva resigned from the post of Sri Lankan board president on April 29. The board has informed that through an official statement. According to the statement, all members of the executive committee and employees have resigned from their posts. Instead, a committee of nine members has been formed to handle the motions of the board. Among those nine members, undoubtedly the biggest name is the former cricketer and captain of the country, Kumar Sangakkara.
However, apart from Sangakkara and Roshan Mahanama, there is no such cricketer in this committee. Majority of admissions are corporate leaders and businessmen. However, former member of the political parliament Iran Wickramaratne has been given the responsibility as the head of the committee of nine people.
