Mumbai: Ben Stokes has announced his retirement from international cricket. The third Test against New Zealand was the last international match of the English all-rounder’s career. Yuvraj Singh gave an emotional message about Stokes on his social media. Yuvi himself won the World Cup in 2011 Indian teamwas an important member of Stokes was a member of the England team that won the 2019 World Cup. One world champion told another world champion in his retirement, ‘cricket will miss you’.
Stokes bid farewell to 15-year international cricket career. One of the best all-rounders in the world was former Englishman Taka. Yuvi says, ‘The World Cup final is an innings that everyone will remember. An innings of 135 not out at Headingley, which almost made the impossible possible. It was the first time you had the courage to talk openly about mental health. You lost your father at the best time of your career. But you turned around right.’
During the 2011 World Cup, Yuvi gave the best performance of the tournament with cancer. He was the backbone of the bat-ball team in that tournament. Yuvi has also seen a fighting spirit in Stokes. He says, ‘I know what it’s like to be on top of the world one day and at the bottom the next, and I’ve seen the same journey in you. 15 years Two World Cup winners medals. A captain who made his team believe that anything is possible. Whom cricket will always remember as one of the best.’
Yuvraj concluded his message by congratulating Stokes on his remarkable career and wishing him the best for life beyond international cricket, writing, ‘Congratulations on an epic career! Cricket will miss you terribly, Ben. Enjoy the new chapter of life. You deserve it!’
It is noted that the other two had already withdrawn from the format. He was leading the country in Test format. But he decided to withdraw from red ball cricket in the middle of the Tentbridge match against New Zealand. Stokes, who got his first chance in the England senior team in 2011, made his Test debut in the Ashes in 2013. He has been leading the country since 2022 in the Test format. But failed to lead the team to win the Test Championship. He was also looking for his form. Meanwhile, he got into a fight with a rugby player again. For which he was dropped from the eleventh. All in all, feeling the pressure, Stokes decided to step back?
