Shivam Dube batted brilliantly for India despite losing the fourth T20 match against New Zealand. India lost by 50 runs in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. But chasing the big target of 216 runs, Dub’s devastating batting impressed the audience. This Mumbai batting all-rounder scored 65 runs off just 23 balls. And single-handedly brought back the excitement in the match.
Dub’s blistering innings had 3 fours and 7 massive sixes. He completed his half-century in just 15 balls, which is the third-fastest half-century in T20 Internationals by an Indian batsman. His aggressive batting was a reminder that India might make the impossible possible.

After Dubey scored his half-century, IPL team Rajasthan Royals made a special post about him on social media. The post shared on X had two pictures of Dube — one of him raising the bat, the other of him hitting a six. The caption of the picture read, “New match. New daanav.” This four-word message quickly went viral and the praise for Dub’s innings spread even further.
Yuvraj Singh still holds the record for the fastest half-century for India in T20 Internationals. In 2007 he scored 50 off just 12 balls against England. In second place is Abhishek Sharma, who recently scored a 14-ball half-century against New Zealand. The world record, however, belongs to Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airey, who scored 50 off just 9 balls.
After the match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav heaped praise on Dub. He said, if another batsman could have stood with Dub, the result of the match could have been different. According to Surya, during such a big run chase, one or two good pairs can play a big role in winning the match.
