Sandeep Sarkar, Kolkata: The news that was supposed to be a happy message made CAB uncomfortable!

The Indian Cricket Board organized the four-team Emerging Tournament at the Center of Excellence in Bangalore. Bengal cricketer Ravi Kumar got a chance in India C team in that tournament. The left-arm pacer is the sole representative of Bengal in the four teams made up of 64 players. ABP Live Bangla was the first to write that news on Friday.

However, the CAB was strangely silent on Ravi Kumar getting a chance. While many other state cricket bodies congratulated all the cricketers from their state who got the opportunity by posting pictures on social media, sending out media releases, CAB did not say anything about Ravi Kumar getting the opportunity. The news was written by ABP Live Bangla.

After that news was published, the governing body of Bengal cricket was shaken. At around 1 am, CAB posted a congratulatory picture of Ravi Kumar on social media. At 1.01 pm, the release was also sent to CAB’s WhatsApp group for the media.

However, the question remains as to why it took so long to officially inform the news of Ravi Kumar to the media and the cricket lovers of Bengal. But June 26 was the birthday of CAB Vice President Nitisaranjan Dutta (Anu). CAB did not forget to congratulate him on his birthday. Congratulatory messages with Anu Dutt’s picture were posted on the organization’s WhatsApp group, CAB’s social media page. Brother was Ravi Kumar. It started to be said that cricket is going to the back row somewhere in the Akcha-Akchi with the post in the governing body of Bengal cricket?

CAB Treasurer Sanjay Das was contacted about this by ABP Live Bangla in the evening. He said, ‘I came out on personal business. I came to know about it from the news of ABP Live Bangla. I see.’ CAB officially announced Ravi Kumar’s spot in the emerging tournament after posting it within an hour. He also wrote that Ravi has been consistently performing well for the under-23 team of Bengal for the past few years.

Ravi Kumar is happy to get the opportunity. ABP told Live Bangla, ‘Last season I took 17 wickets in the Board One Day Tournament and 27 wickets in the Colonel CK Naidu Trophy for the Bengal Under-23 team. Took 5 wickets in 7 matches in Bengal T20 League. All in all, I am in the rhythm.’ Ravi also said, ‘Red ball cricket has always been my favourite. Swing is my weapon. Looking forward to playing well in this tournament. In order to be in the race to enter the Test team in the future.
